A young illegal Zimbabwean foreigner who calls herself Shaime Ncube who was employed as a domestic worker in Mooikloof, Tshwane, allegedly robbed the house of its electrical appliances, expensive phones and other valuable items.
The baby’s mother, who had hired the illegal Zimbabwean nanny, said the woman speaks Shona and English and she is in her 20s.
“She told me her name is Shaime Ncube, but I doubt it is her real name,” the mother said.
When the mother got home she found the baby in the care of her neighbours. When she went into her own house, she discovered that it was empty.
She believes the nanny fled with all her valuables.
The police have opened a case of theft and are urging anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact the nearest police station.
She is urging parents to be vigilant when hiring nannies. She advises parents to ask for identification and thoroughly verify the information provided by the nanny and the agency before hiring anyone.
This incident is not the first of its kind. There have been several instances of nannies robbing their employers.
