He was one of the flamboyant stars of Moja Love reality show Umndeni. The stars made headlines across the country for living a non-conventional life. The group of men, women, and transgender women were married to Bab Kolobe who was their gobela and traditional healer.
Percy “Malwandle” Madonsela was a fan favourite for his vocal nature and “tell it like it is” attitude.
Lwazi Madonsela, Malwandle’s brother, has confirmed his passing to Drum magazine, stating that he fell ill and suddenly died and the family is pleading for donations for the burial.
“I can’t give out many details about his passing. But yes, it is true. Malwandle died at Umhlanga hospital and the burial is this weekend in KZN,” Lwazi tells Drum.
“We kindly ask anyone who can assist financially towards the funeral to please come forward. I am in a predicament, making funeral arrangements.”
Lwazi says he has not had time to process the news and mourn but says maybe after the burial, all will sink in.
“Maybe I will get a chance to mourn after the burial and the arrangements have been made. Only then will I be able to speak.”
n a statement by Moja Love, the channel is saddened by the passing of their own and they sent their condolences to the family.
“Moja Love is saddened by the passing of MaLwandle, a cast member of Umndeni. He was a colourful spirit that brought so much life to the production. Moja Love extends its condolences to his family and friends. May God give them strength and healing through this difficult time and his soul rests in peace.”
