PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says 500 more buses are expected in the country as the government pushes with its drive to provide an efficient mass public transport system.
The President said this in Harare this Monday morning when he handed over 15 buses to the uniformed forces, the Judicial Service Commission and Parliament of Zimbabwe.
The 500 add to the existing fleet of 432 new buses.
Handing over the 15 buses, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the government will continue to strengthen its institutions and improve service delivery.
“This allocation of buses is not adequate but we continue brick upon brick as we build our country. As they come we will give you to ensure that you service your institutions,” said the President.
“The government is doing its best to ensure the provision of transportation and in our next consignment, we are expecting more than 500 buses, which will change orders to make sure that there are 50 small buses to cater for school pupils,” explained the President.
This comes after President Mnangagwa commissioned more than 100 ZUPCO buses, which were distributed to all the country’s 10 provinces.
The expected 500 new buses confirm the second republic’s commitment to ensuring an efficient and reliable mass public transport system.
